To have a senior political leader make such factual inaccuracies is scary. But let me make an attempt to educate @RahulGandhi sir about demonetization:

Demonetization brought money into the formal banking system - it removed the anonymity of money. 1/n https://twitter.com/RahulGandhi/status/1301376885369180160
Removal of anonymity resulted in improvement of tax compliance. By greater revenues, government was able to provide for roads, irrigation, PM Kisan, toilets and LPG to the poor and vulnerable. The poor got greater access to public goods because of improvements in tax revenue. 2/n
On the banking statement made by @RahulGandhi, he needs to take an introductory banking course to understand the difference between write-offs and waivers. Mind you, crony promoters have actually LOST CONTROL of their companies while banks have witnessed record recoveries. 3/n
This obsession of @RahulGandhi with demonetization suggests he probably had a lot of money in 500 and 1000Rs notes that was probably not accounted for? 5/n
Irrespective, Rahul needs to take an Econ 101 course - if not on Coursera then from Dr MMS who will explain why formalization is important. n/N
