so i never knew about high functioning depression until my therapist was like “yeah i think you have high functioning depression”... usually, high functioning people have dysthymia which is “low-grade depression marked by lagging energy or fatigue...”
“...These are people who are generally unhappy in life but don’t meet the definition of major depression, which is more severe”. Basically, people with high functioning depression make do, put on a brave face, appear to be handling things well, but inside they’re struggling.
This thread is simply just to say that you can’t look at someone and assume they’re happy and their life is easy. Everyone has their struggles, and some people hide it better than others. Please check on your friends. Spread love. Be Kind.
