/ I have learned that the people probably angriest at Wikipedia are Hindus. They are seriously upset that Wikipedia has, at least in their opinion, a thoroughly one-sided view of the Delhi Riots from last February, favoring the Muslims and blaming Hindus as instigators.
/ I have been asked over and over to condemn Wikipedia for its anti-Hindu bias. Not knowing anything about the sectarian conflict or about the riots, I have demurred. That would be foolish of me to do. I am happy to point out the obvious, namely, that Wikipedia is biased.
/ I do have a suggestion for my Hindu friends, however. Craft a professional article explaining the conflict in general (because Americans and Europeans may not understand it) as well as the story, as you see it from your point of view, of the riots.
/ Then & only then explain what you think is wrong with the article in general. Give a few choice examples illustrating the bias. I might also conclude with an overture to Wikipedia, asking them to acknowledge that the Hindu point of view should be receive fair representation.
/ You can also specifically ask Wikipedians to acknowledge publicly that Hindus are indeed welcome to contribute, and again that Hindu contributors are valued for their ability to express the Hindu point of view of the subject.

They can hardly say "no." They might ignore you.
/ This will be harder to ignore if the article appears in some major publication—the bigger and more mainstream the better, for these purposes—where it might start a serious conversation. So consider the above advice to be directed to whomever writes such an article.
/ If you can get them published in some American or European publication (something like the Atlantic), all the better. I'm not saying Wikipedia will listen, but you might force a better, more substantive reply out of them.
/ Maybe more importantly, if your article has significant reportage on the riots (again, from a Hindu point of view), then the article might actually serve as an adequate source to be cited by Wikipedia.
/ One last thing. I am not taking the Hindu side here, because my paltry knowledge on the subject is worthless. I am merely offering my opinion because I have been asked so often to help, in the last month or so.
