Being a Trump supporter can and will damage your career path, especially in creative fields.
Nobody will want to hire you for the same reasons no one wants to hire KKK or Neo-Nazis.
The exact same reasons.
Being a piece of shit has consequences.
So when I hear 'creatives' complain about discrimination against them because of their political beliefs, I'm like- well, you support a bigot and a misogynist, and that means you're fucking unemployable, buddy.
That's on YOU.
I like to hire a diverse group of people to work on my gigs, and if you are loudly declaring your support for a strongly anti-women, anti-POC, anti-LGBTQ agenda, you can fuck right off into the sun, you're not working for me- EVER.
The Republicans have made it clear that they stand against everything good, kind, and decent Americans SHOULD be for. And I'm not going to subject the rest of my artist roster to that kind of hate. I strive to create a place for everyone- and I am intolerant of intolerance.
So if you're smart- you won't back Trump. That's a non-starter for your career. Sure, you can scrape out a living getting rage-buys from CHUDS who want to spend to 'own the libs' but your career is DOA.
And you have only yourself to blame.
I do NOT care how well you can write or draw or earn, Trump is so toxic that no one wants to be associated with him as a brand- it's such a link to hate and being an epic failure. If you are backing him, you are linking your personal brand to ALL that-You have fucked up royally.
I'm just one shop. I don't have _THAT_ much power in helping along people's career- but this is a feeling that almost EVERYONE in a hiring position has.
If you stand for hate, they cannot afford to hire you, because of the backlash.
Sorry, not sorry.
