in a discussion zoom meeting for my queer studies class and holy fucking god i missed talking to queer people
it’s something i can’t explain to straight people but the specific trauma that lgbtq+ folk experience is so universal even in “best case scenarios” that speaking with other queer people gives you this instant and unique connection
i could write a completely incomprehensible 17page paper about this feeling and how it connects to gaydar and how we form relationships even at a very young age im just fascinated by it
no matter how much i love my straight friends there’s always a distinct “othered” feeling—not intentionally caused by my straight friends—that comes from being the only visibly queer person in the room
i’m sure some of that comes from my physical appearance—i’m not ignorant to the fact that i call attention to my own queerness. but there’s also the constant background knowledge that, regardless of my physical appearance, if i want to fit in to straight spaces, /
/ i have to limit how much i talk about my queerness

in short: nothing compares to the feeling of community that comes from surrounding myself with queer people and i miss all my friends
