Okay, so this thread is *not* an invitation to attack anyone, but I'm not the type of person to see an obvious scam and just ignore it.

So today I found the shadiest sensitivity reader website I've ever seen. Before I address everything wrong with it, let's do some background.
I've been doing sensitivity reads for years now, and if you've followed me a long time, you know I've done a lot of threads on how to vet SRs.

You don't want to hire someone who will make your book worse, so what happens when someone "invents" an SR certification? 😬
Today, I received an email requesting an SR which was... odd.

I've been closed to SRs since January, which is plainly on my website, but the person requesting also emailed my old email (one under a different name).

I'm not a huge fan of SR databases for safety reasons, HOWEVER
I am on *one*, but when I closed to SRs, I let them know & they took me off temporarily. So... any other database I'm on is w/o consent 😬

Anyway, the format that they sent me describing the listing they'd found was... also odd. So instead of deleting the email, I researched.
Eventually I found a website that had the same format, and lo and behold, I was on it. That's pretty shady since I never agreed to this, but it happens.

I was just gonna ask to be removed until I saw this.
Okay, first of all, y'all, there is no set industry standard for SRs. You can't get an official "certification" for something that has no standards.

What does a certification *do* when it's just some random person on the internet handing it out to you with no qualifications?
But worse than that, no one person can just "certify" hundreds of SRs bc you literally don't know what's good rep if it's out of your lane!

You can pre-approve someone's knowledge of an identity you don't even share! This makes no sense!
So this website offers "courses" where you can get "certified" as an SR and receive on of these badges, which, again, means nothing.

Now, I don't know how much these courses *cost*, but yes, you have to pay for them. So you can display this fake badge on your socials.
Now it's bad enough that they're peddling bs classes, literally nonsensical certifications, & identity info of people who *don't* want to be included.

But it gets worse. Under *my* listing, there's a nice little badge number listed. For the badge you only get from this course.
So they're literally using my name and the credibility I've built as a sensitivity reader as support for their nonsensical course.

They're saying I got *certified* to build my career from scratch. Idk who else got used this way, but there's 85 listings.
So not only are they selling a service that does not exist, but they're using my name and who knows how many others to sell this "certification".

The irony of someone claiming to be able to *teach* you sensitivity reading running a business like this đŸ€Ą
Anyway, here's the website if you'd like to make sure you weren't included https://www.sensitivityreviews.com/certified/

Also, their website came up easily on Google so idk how many people are falling into this scam. *Please* don't support this horrible company & be smart when choosing an SR.
Just found out the person who made the website certified THEMSELF and has the badge on their personal website as proof that they have credentials -.-
