Ok @AcademicChatter #AnthroTwitter #AcademicTwitter I have a question for you. Would you offer co-authorship to a research assistant who helped substantially with transcription & coding but did no actual writing on a project? Why or why not?
Just want to note that this is more of a hypothetical question as I have received so much conflicting advice on this and wanted to see what others’ practices are. In my case, my RAs are given the opportunity to contribute to writing & will be co-authors.
I‘m loving the responses to this thread! So happy ppl are recognizing the important work of their RAs. When I started grad school, I constantly heard RAs “shouldn’t” get co-authorship & that never felt right to me. I knew I didn’t wanna publish like that. Is this an anthro thing?
