Per my thoughts on @aroundthehorn:

“If I die, I die” is something I've heard so often in my life from my very loved ones. It certainly comes from a place of faith and Faith. I think faith is a good thing-maybe the best of things-
but in this implementation I wonder if sometimes it’s half-used to free oneself of personal responsibility/accountability. As in, ‘it’s in God’s hands’; I don’t need to consider this cause, worry about that effect, change this part of my life, etc ‘it’s in God’s hands.’
To be clear, I’m talking about my own experiences, not Cousins here, it’s just the expression that interests me.

It can be powerfully freeing in times of stress/despair to recognize there are things out of your control, or, that your faith/Faith is strong & that has great value
I’d ask you to consider how it can sometimes be detrimental in a case where our actions directly affect other people. Active responsibility is important and necessary and not something you can free yourself from in good faith.
(In fact, if I have this right (it’s certainly possible I don’t because it’s years from by philosophy classes) I believe that’s called bad faith existential thought, via JP Sartre. That is fails to properly embrace freedom. Please weigh in on this if this is your jurisdiction.)
So for me, I think of it more like this: consider making it a a goal of one’s faith/ Faith to demonstrate how you respond to/embrax freedom

As in, I have faith and in turn here’s how I will demonstrate it: I actively control the one thing I can control - how I respond-
To ensure I am responsible and accountable to the many form consequences my actions and displays of faith have on other people.
