okay the work day is over so i can properly give a little rant about this and how many negative reviews about the poppy war come from a place of ignorance and internal bias.

yes, you are entitled to not like a book because you didn& #39;t like the characters/writing style/pacing 1/4 https://twitter.com/tammie_reads/status/1301200753915244546">https://twitter.com/tammie_re...
however, that& #39;s often not the case when people talk about TPW in particular. i often hear people say things like "it was unrealistic" or "well the author should have been more explicit about the parallels to history, i didn& #39;t know it was historical fantasy" 2/4
news flash, it is not an author of colour& #39;s job to educate you on your ignorance. if you want to go into a book not knowing the context, that& #39;s on you. google is free. also, if you knew even the SLIGHTEST bit of chinese history you would know that the references in TPW were 3/4
incredibly explicit. nobody ever complains about white fantasies and how the historical references are not accurate, or explicit enough. everyone knows that the death eaters are a parallel for nazis, and it didn& #39;t need to be spelled out on the page. think about why that is. 4/4
i am angry today and in a terrible mood so might delete this later who knows.
