Wanna know what the other side of my #clarity2020 setup looks like? Here's a behind-the-scenes photo of me watching me watching me (and @nickhahndesign and @ewoolery) on the @InVisionApp @Clarity_conf lunch and learn #clarity2020
A lot of you asked about the gear I'm using, so here's a quick rundown. I wrote about an earlier version of my setup here ( https://danmall.me/articles/better-webcam-video/), so I'll just mention the new or different things in this thread. Also, some of these are affiliate links, cuz money.
Because I switched my camera from a tabletop tripod to one behind my desk, I switched my lens from a Lumix 20mm f/1.7 to a Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 ( https://amzn.to/2QO4St0 ).
For lighting, I have an @elgato Key Light ( https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/key-light) for my fill light and a bounced light from this kit ( https://amzn.to/31TOJIE ) with a portable softbox ( https://amzn.to/3bmJx3l ) on it for my key light.
For audio, I'm using the @rodemics Podcaster: http://www.rode.com/microphones/podcaster.
All of that sits on/behind/near my Jarvis Bamboo Adjustable Desk: https://www.fully.com/standing-desks/jarvis-adjustable-height-desk-bamboo.html.
That's my CURRENT setup, but I'm going to be swapping a few pieces out and upgrading some too very shortly.
I'll probably ditch the behind-the-desk tripod and instead mount an arm-system to my desk like you see here: . That way, I don't have to mess with the tripod whether I'm sitting or standing when I work.
I've been having a little trouble with my mic lately (not sure if that's the mic itself or the cables/connection), but I'll probably use the opportunity to move to a @shure SM7B: https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/sm7b.
That's it! Hope that was helpful to anyone looking to upgrade their setups.
