Fascinated with the start of @joerogan show today w/ @MileyCyrus on the topic of your voice.

In the broadcasting industry, voice IS important -- but many think that you either have a "good voice" or "bad voice" and that's it.

(A thread on the voice & sports media 👇)
In reality, our voices evolve over time. @MileyCyrus says on JRE: "The voice can be like a face. It collects wrinkles, and it tells a story." 🗣️
We all (including sportscasters!) can also improve our voices.

@BAndersonPxP read the book, "Change Your Voice, Change Your Life" by Dr. Mort Cooper at the recommendation of @stevenherz in the '90s when he was starting out...and BA says it did in fact change his life.
@BAndersonPxP is now the voice of the @Brewers & calls MLB/NBA/Golf on @TurnerSportsPR. He's also a great example of treating this profession as a CRAFT -- and that includes refining, tuning, and improving your voice.
Back to @MileyCyrus -- she makes an important point that your voice is your INSTRUMENT. And that we need to understand how it works.

"You are in here with athletes all the time -- recovery days are the most important days. I didn't get recovery days."
As an industry, we need to talk more about the voice as an instrument, and all the things both good and bad that impact it.
