Six points to keep in mind while
#Onboarding a developer for your
#startup ...

A thread ...

Cut down all the buzz words -> The "passionate/world-class/awesome/ninja/guru/..."

Good clarity on what is needed ->
#Programmer?
#Designer? UI-person? What level of expertise? Why an expert? Why Rails/Node/PHP? How much work is already done? Tried freelancers? Why not? Need relocation? Why? Why not work from home? Why hiring at all?

Decent clarity on the business at hand -> Done the market research? What's the economics? Competitors? Whats the execution timeline? Selling plan?

Equity means very little -> Many top edge programmers explicitly state they don't want any.

Salary -> Works better if the thought-process, constraints, and opportunities are mentioned upfront [We have got an investment of Rs.X, can only pay Rs.Y, but there is a bonus of Rs. Z if things work out well].

Tech challenges don't matter much -> Most moderate+ programmers have side projects hey work on for tech-gratification.
