It was this image, actually. This is what started it. Was new to comics at the time, visiting a comic shop, and they had this image as a poster. I saw it, and I was awestruck. It was so cool and powerful to see this woman who wasn’t wearing a swimsuit for a costume, looking so strong and powerful. I bought the poster, I checked out her comics, and I stuck around for the ride. (2/5)
Her struggle was one I related to. The desire to feel like you can ever live up to your potential, the fear that you can’t, and later the feelings that the whole world it against you. Maybe I’m just naturally drawn to underdog characters everyone seems to hate. (3/5)
Aquaman, Captain Marvel, they share a lot in common. Mainly, I have always felt like I’ve had to defend my love for them tooth and nail. “Why do you like THEM? Nobody likes THEM! They’re lame.” And I guess that’s just what drives me forward. Makes them someone I can love. (4/5)
A character I can relate to, a character I can root for, and a character who I can stand-up for, because they would do the same for me ❤️ (5/5)
