Jupiter Disco is expected to continue making our insurance premium financing payments even though we've been effectively closed since March, and our business interruption insurance doesn't cover business interruption when it's a global pandemic.
We're going to lose a generation of small businesses during this pandemic, and even worse, we'll likely lose the next generation as well.

Who is watching our national response to this pandemic and thinking to themselves that they'd like to open a coffee shop? A bar?
My honest advice to anyone considering opening a brick and mortar business? Don't. It probably won't be worth it.
Even if you manage to build a successful business, which is incredibly difficult in the first place, you'll be hung out to dry the minute a shock comes along, by the government and big corporations that suck up your cash flow even in the best of times.
It makes me sad. So much of our culture and community comes from the people who put everything they have into their business, with very little payoff and just an endless stream of problems and issues and shifty yelp reviews.
We pay sales taxes, payroll taxes, insurance premiums, excise taxes, fees, fines. And for what?
All the amazing bars and restaurants that are closing, you read about landlord issues, but I promise you it's more than that. It's just *everything*.
Anyway. I hope I’m wrong and this is just a temporary dark age. And maybe the next generation of small businesses will be better positioned to handle this type of adversity.
