I have noticed a temperature change around React. I don't mean due to Facebook backlash. I've feeling real developer resentment towards features like concurrent mode and suspense. Other libs are almost wearing their lack of these features like a badge. 1/
And people are more getting on that bandwagon. Maybe they are sick of waiting for undelivered promises (figuratively and not). But I find the whole mentality troublesome. The React team is working on a very difficult problem. 2/
Now we have pundits basically celebrating other libraries lack of innovation. I mean Vue doesn't need to write a long article on the topic to cement their longstanding position of taking the safe/proven route, but is that the sort of perspective we should be celebrating. 3/
Maybe it's just an extension of JavaScript fatigue. Maybe React has missed the mark where others are putting effort into tooling and pure DX. But I personally feel inspired by those willing to take on the hard problems to see if we can fundamentally change how we do things. 4/4
