Call to Action: Last month women and GNC folk were abruptly moved from the modern women's prison to abysmal conditions in Mod 3 and ASD. Please call, tweet, and email @PhillyMayor to demand answers and release! Here's a call script: http://rb.gy/nb5mco
Women and GNC folk imprisoned describe unsanitary and unlivable conditions: toilets without seats, filthy cells, roach infestations, trees and plants growing through the floors, no hot water, and crowded conditions. Read our press release: http://bit.ly/mod3asd
We've gathered testimonies from 4 women held there. They are scared because we are in the middle of a pandemic and Mod3 and ASD is not safe. Prisons are petri dishes for COVID-19 and Mod3 even more so! Listen to one here: #FreeOurPeople
People locked up are without medical assistance and cannot social distance. They are not getting adequate care. 90% of people in Philly jails are awaiting trial! Being charged with a crime shouldn't be a death sentence. All people deserve dignity!
People held in ASD and Mod3 lack hot water, don't get hot meals, and are locked in their cells all day--meaning no showers. There is no AC and the air is poor, a recipe for disaster for asthma sufferers. And there are no cameras and a severe staff shortage
Mod3 is mold infested, infested with bugs, has trees and plants growing through the vents, and is filthy! The units used to hold people in quarantine, but they were moved to RCF recently and the cells were not cleaned.
Every person deserves dignity. Our incarcerated neighbors and family are the most vulnerable--to COVID-19 and to mistreatment. 9 out of 10 people in Philly jails are still awaiting trial! A criminal charge shouldn't be a death sentence. We demand @PhillyMayor #FreeOurPeople now!
