Me, 2.5 years ago - "I try not to bring in my own bias/sensitivities (especially around race) when looking at this stuff, but it does pain me that our major black character of the ST was seemingly sidelined for the development of other, frankly, less important characters."
You can dislike him all you want, but he said what many of us Black fans have thought when he said, "what I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side."
You can not agree with everything he has to say, he's a multifaceted person with a lot of opinions, but please recognize and respect his lived experience and the anti-Blackness that he - and fans of the character as an extension - experienced.
Finally, we're free to like whomever but please know that when I hear about Daisy, this is the thing that comes to my mind. I want folks to sit with the fact that many are ready to jump down JB's throat anytime he speaks, but criticism of Daisy for things like this isn't allowed.
