Here's an Eng guide on hairpieces you might see floating around and their respective chinese terms! Note, there are just the most common ones, and are in NO WAY an exhaustive list.
Please note, most of these pictures come straight off the internet and are definitely NOT HISTORICALLY ACCURATE, but they will covey my meaning.
笄 (Jī) is the most basic form of the hairstick, and used for female coming of age ceremonies, 笄礼 (JīLi3), usually made of wood, bone or jade. They are the earliest and plainest form of hair ornaments and are the sticks used to set hairstyles/hats.
簪 (Zān), the more complex form of the 笄, and come of various shapes and forms.
釵 (Chāi) a hairpin/ ji with two prongs/braids
篦(Bì) a small decorative hair comb first used to comb and clean hair
华胜 (Huáshèng) hair ornaments that had parts hanging down the forehead
步摇 (Bùyáo), literally "step sway", hair ornaments with dangling pieces pendants attached to them, and swayed when a lady walked. Most often we see them attatched to 簪these days.
挑心(Tiāoxīn) 明 Ming dynasty hair ornaments used to decorate the middle of their pointed buns
掩鬓 (Yan3bìn), hair ornaments to put against temples that usually come in pairs.
簪花 (Zānhuā) fabric flowers, a famous example would be the 南京绒花 (Nanjing Ronghua)which has been a luxury since the Tang 唐 dynasty, and is still considered a cultural heritage today.
扁方 (Bian3fāng) strip hair ornaments from the Qin dynasty to set buns.
髪带 (Fàdài) colorful fabric hair band with embroidery
头冠 (Tóuguān) crown worn my noble woman that usually covered the entire head. Not to be confused with the Men's 冠 Guan , the types of hat they wear on their head.
This is all I can think of for today! If I can think of more I will add more, and please take into account that other than 笄 and occasionally the 簪花, HISTORICALLY, these were worn by WOMEN OF THE NOBLE CLASSES, but not all of these are HISTORICAL EXAMPLES.
