There are lots of strategies being used against us here, but I can see at least three legs of Trump’s re-election stool very clearly:

1. He wants to make this a “law and order” election. It’s clearly a dog whistle to “get Black folks in line.” The right antidote is *justice,* which Dems need to speak directly to ASAP.

1a. WE have to collectively reject “law and order” framing out of hand. Not only because Trump is a whole impeached criminal himself, but because it fails to put the onus on the systemic violence, police violence, and white supremacy that caused all of this.

Write THAT story.

2. Trump will suppress the vote AGAIN.

Between the digital voter suppression @digitalsista has been shouting about since before 2016, the foreign interference, the USPS, the polling place closures & voter roll purges & more whatever votes Trump can’t get, he will suppress again.

2a. WE, esp. in media, have to always identify the amount of SUPPRESSION that affects what look like mere “turnout” numbers.

2b. Continue to follow and support @LawyersComm, @NAACP_LDF, @ACLU, @civilrightsorg & more who are CONSTANTLY in court and fighting voter suppression long before election years.

3. He wants to siphon off Black votes he can’t suppress. Yes, the parading of Black Republicans at the RNC was to make racist white people feel not racist. It is *also* about winning a few Black votes & depressing democratic ones.

In conclusion, the stuff I’m saying is obvious & I only hear Black people saying it and that, alone, is problematic. Not shining the light on these things from whatever stage you have, whether your facebook account to your own show to your PAC, is helping hand him reelection.

White folks: doing things like focusing on whether or not you think “defund the police” is the wrong demand, or “advising” organizers to “stop protesting,” or legitimizing Trump’s tiny “Black wins” help him maintain his fallacious premise.

Stop feeding his narrative. ASAP.

Instead: get on TV and in your group chats and on your social and CALL HIM OUT for his BS & lies so other white folks don’t buy it, instead of focusing on the behavior of the most oppressed.

This is what we mean when we say “get *your* people.”

The election has already started. With absentee ballots going out and early voting moved up, many folks are making up their mind *now.* We can’t afford to see these truths only in retrospect.

Get on the right side of history right now, while we still have the chance to write it.
