this morning I ran a little farther—up from 1.13mi to 1.28—and made my third sub-11:00/mi pace both in a row, and also ever, and also my fastest ever pace, at 10:27/mi (13:22 total). what is happening
before last Friday I'd never run under 11:00/mi, and before today I'd never run under 10:30, and I'm consciously not even trying for speed. I'm confused!
9:59?? what? HOW
total time 12:17, total distance 1.23mi, stopped a little short of yesterday's distance because
now to carefully avoid looking at John Darnielle's timeline until tomorrow.
*see JD posting run selfies*
*think "OK, I really need to get going, it's already later than I wanted to start my run"*
*make a new personal best pace over my little neighborhood loop*
*log back on, see JD is…still on his run*
*give up*
maybe the secret is queuing up metal and classical instead of news podcasts
(in case JD sees this thread: I'm poking fun at myself a little, but as a mechanism to defuse the part of my brain that _tries_ to tell me "look how much better than you at X that other person is, you should give X up", and I do actually take inspiration from his run selfies.)
