My general take on the Boyega interview is:

He’s right to be mad.

I’m not sure why he’s so intent on defending Abrams given that TRoS was, without question, the *most* guilty of what Boyega is complaining about.

But on the whole, yeah. He’s right to be disappointed.
I do think it’s a leap to say Disney knew what they wanted to do with Daisy and Adam though.

The biggest problem, at the end of the day, is that nobody involved had a clear endgame for any of this.

Whether they had bungled arcs or were just sidelined, nobody came out well.
This too. It was TFA more than any of the others that absolutely fumbled the ball on Finn from the get.

Introduce a fascinating idea for a character. Forget everything fascinating about him by the end of Act I. Spends the rest of the film in character non-development limbo. https://twitter.com/a_b_allen/status/1301159520287121408
THE LAST JEDI is the one, the *one* film that gives Finn an arc. But it’s in what is clearly the B-plot, whereas Finn was clearly an A-plot in TFA despite doing nothing of interest dramatically.

So yeah, his anger is justified but just kinda misplaced, IMO.
Obvi this is just a fraction of a much larger and more interesting interview that I recommend y’all read in its entirety. Being black in entertainment can be a dangerous, exhausting thing. And John experienced most of the worst forms of it throughout his career.

Listen to him.
