1. We are very concerned about the comments of the @LondonFire commissioner Andy Roe in this interview. On dangerous #cladding: "I think government across the political spectrum have a real intensity to see the situation resolved." https://twitter.com/PeteApps/status/1301070003052187652
2. We urge Mr Roe to speak to some residents trapped in dangerous buildings for the last 38 months, being made to jump through a million hoops by @mhclg to access the ACM or BSF fund. Does Mr Roe know that the govt has adopted a first come first served approach to life safety?
3. We urge Mr Roe to speak to voluntary campaigners, as it was only because of our pressure that the govt begrudgingly announced the pvt sector ACM and BSF, 23 mths and 33 months after the tragedy at #Grenfell.
4. On the minimal size of BSF, Mr Roe says :"this is a complex area because sometimes it’s about who owns the buildings, sometimes it’s about how they’ve been built. What I would say is that money [the £1bn Building Safety Fund] is there. ...
5...My sense from government is that ministers have an absolute intent to change this landscape to make it better and I am sure that they will look at all necessary measures to support that."Is Mr Roe supporting the first come first served approach of @mhclg &govt to life safety?
6. On waking watch, Mr Roe says: "I’m not particularly comfortable with that situation. [But] I think it is the best that can be done in the interim." Has Mr Roe asked the residents in these blocks how safe they feel with a waking watch? #WakingwatchScandal
7. Does Mr Roe understand that the costs of a waking watch will make most people financially destitute, bankrupt & homeless before a single panel of #cladding is removed from these blocks? Why is a 19th century solution the only option for a 21st century problem?
8.We are disappointed that the most senior member of the London Fire Brigade @LondonFire does not feel it necessary to challenge the government for the failed building regulations of @mhclg that have caused thousands of unsafe buildings to be built across London & all of the UK.
9. We are disappointed that Mr Roe does not call out the many developers who took advantage of the lax building regulations and prioritized profits over the safety of people's homes.
10. We urge Mr Roe to speak to us and affected residents. We need people in positions of power to understand &speak up about the issues around the #claddingscandal. We are keen to understand his views, which are opposite to many innocent leaseholders suffering from this scandal.
