Super weird false dichotomy here. Most Muslim-majority countries that are somewhere on the spectrum of democracy has experienced grassroots demonstrations against China's oppression of Uighurs, and have taken some measures to try to protect Uighurs -- Indonesia, Turkey, Malaysia. https://twitter.com/KenRoth/status/1301086086681296897
The important dividing line between countries/populaces that have spoken up about China's Uighur genocide, and those who have not, is the type of govt they have. Authoritarian govts are actively opposed to a world order that penalizes any government for human rights abuses.
Also, authoritarian governments that sit over Muslim-majority populaces don't think in terms of "Islam." WHOSE Islam? They absolutely want to reserve the right to crush Islamic sects and movements that they disagree with.
These governments -- Bahrain, UAE, and others -- have censored their own citizens (and in some cases, even govt officials) who have tried to speak out against China's treatment of Uighurs.
