Ran a few polls and talked to a bunch of consumers last week about wine Tech Sheets.

Tech sheets are one-pagers about a wine like so: https://tablascreek.com/uploads/pos/fact-sheet/Cotes07_printable.pdf

Thread on what I learned. 1/
More people reference them than you’d think. People go to winery websites just to look for them, or Google a wine hoping to find that kind of info.

But most tech sheets aren't easy to find. Nor SEO friendly. 2/
People want to know about the details! What is the varietal breakdown of the blend. What aging vessel was used. Details details details.

But many tech sheets stick to surface level info like ABV. 3/
While the #1 thing people look for is tasting notes... The most underrated info on a tech sheet is the food pairing. 4/
And that’s because people reference the tech sheet while they’re drinking a wine or planning a meal around the wine.

And how cool is that, where someone is trying to plan their life around your bottle of wine. 5/
And the (potential) audience for tech sheets shouldn't just be for “trade”. Most people found them helpful, not intimidating or info overload. 6/
In the "clean wine" era, consumers are demanding more transparency about the wines they drink.

While wineries don't always have control over what shows up on major platforms, they do have control over the info on their own websites. 7/
If someone ends up on your website, how are you helping consumers understand your wine?
