Thread 1. As a parent of a P7 child and a post-primary teacher I would like to know from the Edu Minister @PeterWeir what procedures will be in place for the move of these dates. In January there is a significant chance that there will be a peak in COVID-19 cases...
2. ...due to cold and flu season. If sat as originally agreed, later in Nov and Dec, then we may have had a chance to get through the transfer process. If children need to self isolate due to possible COVID cases in school or in the family how will these children sit tests...
3. ...as they may miss up to two weeks in isolation? These children cannot sit the same tests that other children have already sat as results would be unreliable. Also, this increases the likelyhood that children that have been exposed to COVID will go to school...
4. ...as their parents will understandably not want them missing school during this important time. This would then increase the spread of COVID in schools to the very teachers the kids need to teach them during this uncertain time.
5. This thread hasn't even touched upon these 10 and 11 year olds mental health. Also, the impact these changes will have on primary schools and post primary will be significant. #transfertest @BBCnireland
