I really don't get why it is so hard for people to understand the Cedric signing?!

2) His reported salary is
CΒ£65k/wk. His reported loan fee was Β£1m according to the Telegraph ( https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/31/arsenal-complete-loan-signing-southampton-defender-cedric-soares/) Hardly breaking the bank.

Renew the contract already going by the 2 yr rule of sell or renew.
4) because of the small outlay and salary, we cannot lose, we don't HAVE to keep him for the contract term, we can sell him at the end of the season or following and return a profit or at least make it back

5) He's a decent squad player, he's experienced in the Premier League, he's won the Euros playing for Portugal alongside Ronaldo, he's won 2 cups in Portugal and played in Europe.
So going to the initial point, he's not a starter, he's a back up player. Decent back up imo..
