can’t stop thinking about the ableism and the ‘overcoming her disability’ narrative that they give yennifer in the witcher - she deserves better
basically taking a character with a deformed spine and basically treating her like less than human until she is magically changed into an abled-bodied person who gets treated like royalty (now that she has magic to ensure she gets treated well) creates a complex where (1/)
unless someone who is disabled overcomes their disability physically then they shouldn’t be treated with respect. Yennifer is an amazingly powerful character with a rich background story who should have come off in the series as a badass who takes no shit and has potential (2/)
to take what she wants with no repercussions but she comes off more as a pushover who puts her trust in the wrong people and keeps getting hurt by it. In the books and games she is so much more and I know it’s the first season and there’s more to come (3/)
but I think her changing herself and her disabled identity was the easy way out of them stopping the abuse and speed up the her journey to becoming powerful.

Anyway this has been your unnecessary witcher rant - read the books.
