The only thing I keep seeing replaying in my head is the photographer running up mad eagerly to get his close-up MONEY AND LIKES shot of the protestors being brutalized.

To all journalists and photographers, and any artist that is out at the protests taking pictures: are you there as a protestor or as “press?”

Would you have done something if George Floyd had been being murdered in front of you? Or just gotten that money shot?

Let your existence be a CLEAR form of activism!

We don’t need as many people taking pics and video, as we need people fighting for human rights and equity! We need preparation. We need organizing. We need unity.

Not opportunistic artists who see opportunity in protests.

And dear journalists and photographers: if that isn’t your intention, and “someone has to tell the world what has happened”: thank you!

But the world already knows how fucked up our society is.

Next time, try leaving the camera at home and just go out an join the protest!
