Knowing somebody confidently pitched this shot and nobody in the room went "ok and what's the significance of that"
Like the significance we've had for the twin suns is an association w Luke's character. In the famous shot where he's looking at them he's thinking about wanting to leave his hometown. He sees twin suns again while he's dying and you gather he's thinking about how far he's come
In the prequels you see various recreations of Anakin and Padme on this horizon, but not until they arrive at the Lars homestead in II, so not when Anakin is yearning for something more. Which is, you know, extremely weird
You have the shot in III of baby Luke arriving there and then Owen and Beru look at the sunset, but you have to imagine if they're thinking anything it's "cool a baby" or "nice sunset" so the point of the shot is a little bit "think about Luke" but mostly "hey, it's that shot"
Then in IX you have Rey slide down the sandy hill just like she did in VII, which is Rey's "look how far she's come." She buries Luke's lightsaber, thinks about Luke, then literally looks and sees Luke's ghost which has shown up, so that's your "think about Luke."
But THEN, we get the sunset shot, so why? The point can't (or shouldn't be) Rey yearning for more because she's already had an adventure and her story is ending. She's not thinking how far she's come because she didn't see these suns as a kid and they mean nothing to her.
So what? Is the last thought of Rey's trilogy supposed to be "think about Luke (again) (even though you just did)"? Is the last thought of the entire saga "hey, it's that shot"?
Explain to me the call to line Rey and BB-8 each up with one of the suns, as if the point of the twin suns visual has ever been to go, "look, two things." Why is any of this happening, who is responsible
