Lessons I learnt from reading the Forbes article detailing Tyler Perry's rise from a homeless kid to Billionaire:

There are 5 of them, but the fifth one hit me hard
1. Ownership helps you build true wealth.

This was an advice he got from Oprah Winfrey who also owns he show and the company that produces it.

It an award this year, Tyler also repeated it.

When he goes into a contract, he tries to retain 100% of his content.
2. Whatever you create is precious and can change your life.

This ties back to the power of ownership.

Every piece of content you create..
a book, an art, an image, a photo, a movie... is powerful and has the capacity to change your life.

But this depends on three things
- Your ability to find the perfect audience for that content

- Your ability to stay persistent in preaching its value even when naysayers surround you

- Your ability to negotiate its worth with confidence even when others don't see it yet.
3. Action over certainty

Waiting to have all the answers will almost always paralyse your vision.

Take the first step, then another... you'll spot opportunities as you go

Tyler said it best when he said:

"I did not have mentors... Everything I learned, I learned in progress."
4. You need to be convinced about what you want to do.

Don't dabble.

Don't go in with half a heart.

If you must do it, do it with all you've got.

Do it with all your heart.

YOU WILL DACE CHALLENGES.

Your dedication will help you overcome them.
5. Society may predict your future, but you alone can change your destiny.

You may have been born into a negative system.

One that does its best to frustrate your best ideas and efforts.

It's hard to fight it.

Very hard.

But fortune has its way of smiling on the bold.
Don't let the system win.

Find loopholes in it.

Exploit it.

Build networks with people who see what you see and have walked the shoes you seek.

Travel, move, whatever it takes, do it to beat the system that stands in your way.

Get It Done.
