I’m not going to name and shame but I want to respectfully raise few points that need to be addressed.
These are conversations that have been happening for a while now and it’s exhausting regurgitating this All. The. Time.
But so MANY of us have had enough.

FIRSTLY, when we talk of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, at no point is there a “me myself and I” approach. It’s about the collective, not the individual
So in terms of Aboriginal leadership, it is communal. It is about community. There’s no “I” it’s about we.
So in terms of Aboriginal leadership, it is communal. It is about community. There’s no “I” it’s about we.
SECONDLY, in your role of leadership, how are your decisions going to impact community? How are you working with community?
If you ‘consult’ with community, how do you give back to community and are accountable to community? How do you ensure you don’t “over consult” community?
If you ‘consult’ with community, how do you give back to community and are accountable to community? How do you ensure you don’t “over consult” community?
THIRDLY, If there are individuals GIVEN leadership roles and a huge aspect of this role is positioned in a ‘partnership and collaborative’ approach to work with community, then (respectfully) how is that going to happen if you are non-Indigenous...
FOURTHLY - especially if this involves ‘Indigenous Knowledge’ that’s spiced up with institutional research lol...
My question remains - how is this going to happen?
My question remains - how is this going to happen?
FIFTHLY, if partnership & community is discussed then transparency in HOW this approach will be practiced NEEDS TO be discussed
If building rapport & using ‘Indigenous Knowledge’ for titles, RAP targets and $ then how you gonna do this without transparency and accountability

SIXTHLY, people in positions of power play a good role in silencing blak voices. Blak voices that challenge a system & decisions made that impact our people & our communities. Instead, time & time again there is the perfected notion of silencing us thats been occurring since 1788
SEVENTHLY, I know my place and want to carry with respect - & please hold me into account if I am wrong.
I’m just respectfully questioning decisions that have been made with certain appointments which impact our communities by using our knowledge.

To wrap up this rant coz I lost count, representation matters because representation especially with our people is carried out with specific responsibilities that non-Indigenous mob aren’t accountable for. So if there are positions that represent our mob.. who are you..?
