Watched "BotW: A Very Cannon Christmas" which had a cartoon called "The Christmas Tree" (1991). Which had...full animation? Limited-full animation? Like, instead of only drawing the mouth talking and eyes blinking they drew each frame...
It's not the full animation most of us think of where everything is uniquely drawn...
You know how in some shots in old anime they re-draw the whole frame for talking or the wind blowing when the characters are a certain size on screen? It's like mixing that with old US cartoons with all camera shots.
For a laugh I thought I'd try it. Here's the old animation from 2017. [no sound]
Here's where most of the frames are redrawn. It kind of works. [no sound]
If you're starting out you can draw the hold, do your lip sync, and then draw over it for each new frame someone is talking. Might be better doing it all in one go. lol
I mean if you're, like, brand new to doing all this then drawing each frame as "full" can make people think, "Oh, wow! They put a lot of effort into this!" and as you improve you can do "full" like it's nothing.
I don't know how to end this thread. Here's a picture of Flamarion Ferriera, director of "The Christmas Tree," courtesy of Robert Lamb.
