Something weird and quite scary happened on Monday that I'm still processing. I feel I need to share this because this might be a new trend or tactic for robbers to gain access to people's houses. (Thread)
On Monday I ordered from @bottlesapp. We use that app a lot and I've also noticed that a lot of the time we get our stuff delivered by the same 4 or 5 people. I didn't think too much of it because our area is really hard to service. We don't have that many options.
So I always give out instructions to the drivers to help them find where we live because it's hard. People get lost and on Monday I did the same. At around midday I got a call from the driver and he said he is at the gate but security won't let him in.
I told the driver to tell security to call me and he said security says they don't have my number and I need to come to the gate to get your delivery. I found this odd because I know security has my number but I paid it no mind and said I would come to the gate.
I wasn't too enthused about going to the gate because it's far but in my mind I'm also questioning why would security say they don't have my number and even then they could have called someone who lives with us and confirm that we are expecting a delivery.
As I'm approaching the gate I'm expecting to see a motorcycle but there's a car instead - this is odd. As I approach the car I see that there are 4 men sitting in that car. I am shook because it doesn't take 4 men to deliver one plastic bag.
They were all not trying to be seen and the one guy didn't even fully open the window to give me my plastic bag. The whole encounter was sketchy and I realise now that security wouldn't let that car in because they were sketchy.
My mind started going through a lot of scenarios of how wrong things could have gone if they let that car in. That could have been a planned home invasion because that driver has probably been here before and told his mates to be ready for when he got an order for here.
