We have analysed the menus of primary schools in Scotland in 2017, 2017 and now 2020. While our new report analyses pre-pandemic data, it is important to apply this learning to our current situation

As we recover from the pandemic, we need to make sure that we not only maintain pre-pandemic school meals standards, but improve school food further. We have to take the opportunity to return to February’s baseline and improve upon it.

School meals are a small part of our national diet, but can be controlled, and they teach our children what is normal & acceptable. This experience is often carried through life, echoing in dietary choices long after we leave school.
