THREAD:
September is Pain Awareness Month
Many people live with disabilities/chronic illnesses that cause them chronic pain and they are often not taken seriously by medical professionals. They also find that the Pain Scale doesn't take them into consideration - what may be 1/
a 10/10 (agonising pain) for an abled person is equal to every day pain for someone with chronic pain; the body adjusts and they often find they have a higher pain threshold/tolerance.
This thread is going to updated daily with ways that can help someone manage their 2/
chronic pain a little easier.
None of these are guaranteed to work. Each person and their experience is different, so what works for others may not work for you. But I hope this thread provides a starting point for you. 3/
Day 1: EPSOM SALTS
Epsom salts can be added with warm water to produce a soak that relaxes your muscles and soothes your aching joints. You can get them at pharmacies and can buy them in bulk on sites like Amazon for cheaper!
Day 2: HEAT COMPRESS
Compresses can be anything from those you can microwave to a hot water bottle. You press them to the affected joint/body area and allow the heat to soothe and be soaked in. I've found it's most effective on my osteoarthritis.
You can also buy heat patches.
