#WhiteSox twitter when the team loses (loves to blame the GM) for lack of moves. But now we see what happens when an owner historically hates spending on multiple international free agents, hates paying for high ceiling high schoolers in drafts & doesnt spend often in free agency
The White Sox have done a great job amassing top level young talent thru trades, one international period in (Luis Robert). And That’s a great. But you have to consistently spend thru these Avenues as well as free agency if you want to have sustainable success if you’re the Sox.
The last few years we’ve seen a shift in the drafting process & we have seen more high schoolers drafted (hopefully in years to come the Sox reap the rewards of that) but in the mean time not doin so from 2013-2017 & not spending often internationally/FA has hurt the depth needed
And I just know some will read this and argue “WELL THEY SIGNED LUIS ROBERT” yes that’s great. But you can’t have one big signing then take every other 1-2 years off internationally simply to trade bonus pool money so that the owner can get real hard cash back into his pocket.
And no the sky is not falling, I personally think the Sox are in great position going forward. But fans need to understand why Hahn can’t just go out there and start mortgaging the future if demands are unrealistic. You cannot afford to act in that manner under Jerry Reinsdorf.
