The main criteria for this list include things such as memorability, re-watchability, recommend-ability and general likability. There are also one or more aspects I greatly admire about each of these, whether it was the storytelling, cinematography, characterization, etc.
And, YES, I ABSOLUTELY cheated by categorizing the whole Before trilogy as one position on this list but it’s because they are my #1 and ones that made such an impact on me. Cannot talk about them enough. Those films are truly so special and extraordinary.
A movie that did not make this list simply because it does not meet the re-watchability criteria: Hereditary. The most haunting shit I’ve ever seen, but a must-watch if you feel you’re capable.
Lastly, a runner-up top 3 faves for just a generally fun and enjoyable movie-watching experience: Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (obviously), Ready or Not, Sing Street
