Advice from a retired bank (flow) trader to the next generation (Short Thread)

The most important lessons for a professional trader to learn are:
1) invest time into relationships. Not having good ones will kill you. Always do a favor for someone if the cost to you is small.
It’s a free option and you never turn down a free option.

2) I’ll pass along my boss’s advice: the three most important words for a trader to learn to say are, “I was wrong”. There is no hopes of a solution unless you first recognize the problem.
3) whatever you trade, there will be a rule book for it, like ISDA terms and definitions. Read it. 99% of other traders won’t have. It’ll give you a huge edge.
