MCLACHLAN: The presentations were outstanding and the decision was extraordinarily difficult.

MCLACHLAN: It is my pleasure to officially announce the 2020 Toyota AFL Grand Final will be played at the Gabba.

McLachlan confirms the Grand Final will take place on the night of Saturday, October 24. A time is yet to be confirmed.

MCLACHLAN: The Grand Final will be played before a crowd of at least 30,000 people.

McLachlan confirms the Adelaide Oval is the backup venue.

MCLACHLAN: All the presentations were excellent. All states have their points of strengths and things that were less strong. It wasn't a done deal. It was a difficult decision.

MCLACHLAN on Perth: They weren't a distant third, they have a fantastic venue.

MCLACHLAN on Grand Final start time:

Daylight savings will have an impact. Certainly not any earlier than 6:30PM Melbourne time and certainly could be later.

McLachlan on finals in Perth:

I think a Prelim Final is difficult and I've spoken to West Coast about that. I think Week 1 is possible.

McLachlan on GF entertainment:

Those discussions have started ... I've seen an email with lots of names on it and I'm pretty confident they'll be Australian which I'm sure is a good thing.

McLachlan on snubbing Perth:

I think football fans will understand ... West Australians are absolutely committed to a hard border over there.
