Obviously Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" is one of the low points of Western civilization, but what's worse was the spate of articles & interviews at the time, breathlessly giving Joel credit for writing this "educational" song that kids could learn about history from.

I'm not sure what made me think of this tonight. Somehow "Lawrence of Arabia / British Beatlemania" popped into my head while I was making my bed and I became enraged anew.
