New: Erika Uyterhoeven, a DSA member, has won a Dem primary for the MA House (in Middlesex). (She won& #39;t face a Nov. opponent, so will win seat.)

She ran with the endorsement of Boston DSA, & also other groups like AFL-CIO & AFT. Housing was important: https://somerville.wickedlocal.com/news/20200824/column-difference-between-erika-uyterhoeven-and-catia-sharp---housing-and-more">https://somerville.wickedlocal.com/news/2020...
NEW: State Senator James Welch has *lost* his re-election bid to a challenger from his left, Adam Gomez.

This is the first Massachusetts incumbent ousted tonight (many more to watch). Gomez won& #39;t face an opponent in Nov in this Hampden County race.
NEW: State Rep. David Nangle has LOST his re-election bid against challenger Vanna Howard.

Nangle is a conservative Dem who endorsed Scott Brown over Elizabeth Warren in 2012 & who has an "F" grade from Progressive Mass. He& #39;s the 2nd Dem incumbent ousted from his left tonight.
NEW: Another candidate endorsed by @ProgressiveMass wins a legislative primary, this time in an open race: Orlando Ramos, who fought for a ban on facial surveillance in Springfield as a city councilor, has prevailed in a Hampden County district.
NEW: And here& #39;s another victory for a candidate backed by Progressive Mass: Steve Owens won a 3-way open primary in Middlesex County on a progressive platform, and so is virtually certain to be joining the state House as well.
Coda on this thread of 5 new progressives: *Many* centrist-to-conservative incumbents being helped by the GOP governor& #39;s PAC, & won against progressive challengers. (The one incumbent challenged **from the right** won too.) So overall, this was not an earthquake in the state.
