Now that #MASen is over, a few things:

1. I hope that Ed Markey becomes the leader those of you on here have portrayed him to be. He’s got a lifetime voting record that’s closer to Biden than it is to Bernie, and people were fine with ignoring that for HIM for *some* reason. 🤷🏽‍♀️
2. The Green New Deal is a non-binding resolution. If it were passed tomorrow, nothing would change. I need progressives to hang their hats on deeper, more substantive policy commitments and outcomes. This is becoming a distraction w/r/t actual aggressive climate action.
3. I’m sure Joe Kennedy is chastened by this experience. He’s a privileged scion of a dynasty, but he’s not a bad guy, and had he waited for an open seat before pulling the trigger, I wager y’all would’ve been perfectly fine with him waltzing right into the Senate.
4. We need to elect more progressive leaders who understand the moment we’re in. We do not need to selectively impose sliding scale litmus tests. It cheapens the goal of reshaping our politics for the long run and is just not productive for securing actual outcomes for people.
5. This primary was STUPID. It became a conduit for pent up frustration from the presidential primary and it wasn’t a cute look—for ANYONE.

Let’s never do this again, and let’s be more honest with each other moving forward. This was dumb dumb dumb.
6. I have to remind myself this often, but don’t stan politicians. Elect them. Hold them accountable. Appreciate their work. Follow their actions closely. But don’t stan. They’re just humans like you trying to figure all this shit out.
