The press conference has begun! First there will be comments from the members on their No. 1 Billboard 100 achievements

They're all just introducing themselves. So let me tell you what they are wearing:

Congrats BTS!

JH: BTS reaching no. 1 on the hot 100, we never imagined it. It still feels like a dream. I don't know if this is reality, I am still shaking, I am still excited. We started this bc we love music, bc we love dancing, I am very happy and excited that our sincerity

JH: (cont): resonated.... the energy we received from our fans allowed us to keep going. I think that is what allowed today's BTS to become who we are and for Jhope to become who I am, so we would like to thank all the fans for this honor.

Jimin: yesterday we were so happy, so thrilled. I think we calmed down a little bit... this is something we never really imagined would happen. At some point we felt that this is something we wanted to do and looked forward to. This is something the fans were all looking forward

JM (cont): I was really thankful to all the members. We are so thankful to the fans, we are thankful to Prod bang si-hyuk, the BTS staff, our family. Thank you, and we will try to repay all the love you have shown us.

RM: I never thought we would even have this kind of conference and would say these things. I was waiting all night, I was the first one to receive the news. We had a lot of other things going on... so i thought to go to sleep... I didn't want to overexcite myself.

RM (cont): I thought a lot about our past... I wanted to preserve my emotions, I think my contribution to this... is very small. Our army, our members, all our staff, the songwriters, I think this achievement was made possible with all these contributions

JK: I heard the news a little bit later. When I checked the news, learned that we had reached the top of the chart, and I wasn't sure if what I was looking at was really real. I was just out of it for a little bit. It's really our army who helped us reach this milestone.

JK (cont): I want to say thank you to our army and to the other members. I am thankful to have met these good people... Being able to be a part of such a milestone is a great honor for me. And it was actually my bday yesterday so it felt like a rly huge birthday present.

JK (cont): I want to again say thank you to my parents and army.

Jin: I realized this is a real screenshot, this is real, I went onto weverse, I kept writing a message, I kept erasing it, how do I express these feelings to our fans. For BTS, and Army, this is something we achieved together. This is all thanks to our fans.

SG: We talked a lot about this goal. We worked hard, but this feels like a dream that we reached this goal. There was this surge of thrill and excitement... and when I learned I had to pitch myself to see if this was real. The BB charts is something that was very familiar to me..

SG (cont): I listened to the songs on these charts since I was little. I have to thank Army for helping this dream become real.

V: I didn;t think BTS would be in such a limelight from the global audience. We came from small provinces in Seoul, practiced in a small studio, these memories are so fresh. (telling a story of when he came to Seoul with his dad).

V: All of the difficulties we had to go through, all of these are pleasant and sweet memories, and they really emphasized the story we have now. And I feel like we have received an award. I just want to be happy and I just want to cheer for us today, I hope everyone can smile.

JK: It was impossible, we couldn't believe if it was real or a dream, that's what we felt back then. Since we have that result, we want to reach for even more heights.

SG: All of our goals becoming reality makes me happy. I need to be careful of what I say when it comes to goals. I am very happy we achieved this with dynamite, now I start to think what our next goal should be, not that we released it to make it onto the hot100 chart...

SG (cont) But we simply put it out to make people happy... I am glad so many people listened to it and felt energized. I guess I do have to mention that our new goal... we went to the grammys.. Now I would like to do a single performance, just BTS, on the grammys stage.

SG (cont): It would be great to receive an award. That is not going to become a reality just bc we want to, we need a lot of help from a lot of people, but getting to perform on the grammys stage is our new goal.

Press: giving thanks for the song, thanking the members, Bighit, producers, staff, etc for the 7 years (there are a variety of messages like this)

SG: Becoming No. 1 on this chart and being congratulated by these people... I once again feel (reputable).

Jin: I would like to be able to bring more good news in the future. Keep an eye on us.

JK: Seeing that you have been following and have learned from us, I feel extremely grateful for this. Seeing you following our career and looking forward to our future is also very touching. bc people like you exist, we are driven further to work harder, so ty so much.

Question from the press now!

Q: What have you talked about after achieveing
Q: Jimin said he weeped - why did you cry, where did it come from?

JM: It was after 4am that I heard this news and I cried until 7am, and then I fell asleep crying. I was with JK, we were really thrilled and excited, and then we were just staring at the chart and caressing it thru our phones.

JM cont: And then we told RM it was bc of you we accomplished all of this. What we talked about the most is... looking back we thought about what we wanted to do, what we kept doing, this felt like a reward for all the things we had been doing all this time.

JM contd: being applauded for this accomplishment gave us a lot of energy. The first thing that came to my mind after seeing this is how much I wanted to perform. I miss Army and I want to see Army so much.

Q: What do you think touched the American audience with Dynamite

RM: Not an easy q to answer. That's bc, ofc it's not just no. 1 on the hot100, it's not something you achieve just from fan support, it also requires support and acceptance from the gp. Our performannces, our behind the scenes, what we showed, when you do something with sincerity

RM cont: It always resonates with people. There are things that have not come to fruition, things we couldn't continue to do. But this team this is rly BTS, the records we have achieved, the power of music and the power of performance is something we continue to talk about

RM (cont): think dynamite was more familiar bc of the language, the disco pop is more familiar with the American public. There isn't an overarching macro level message, but sometimes a a simpler message sometimes really comes across.

Q: about the meme/gestures they kept doing in the b-side MV

JK: There were some cues by the director and some gestures he suggested and asked us to do, and we were seeing some videos online and we saw this particular video tht everyone was talking about. So I did it during the rehearsal, we thought it was rly funny, but then it came out

JM: Even before we were working on the MV, this video (the gestures) was popular among us before, but we didn't think it would be a part of the video. (Said it was really funny, and he is glad people enjoyed it... and then he demonstrated it LOL).

Q: What do they want to tell the them of 7 years ago, and to the members today

JH: 7 yrs ago seems like a lifetime ago. There were a lot of new groups, to stand out the only thing we could do is really work hard like our life depended on it. We did our best and we went as hard as we could. Just like we said, we rly worked hard to get our name out.

JH: we just wanted people to say our names, we wanted to stay alive. We accomplished our goals far beyond what I expected. I feel like we have reached the goals we set out to reach 7 years ago, it feels like the world has acknowledged our sincerity...

JH: tell him (7 yrs ago JH) your efforts did not betray you. And all the other members are really precious to me. They have become a major reason for my life and my existence. ty to the members for being with me for 7 yrs, and ask them to be with me for the rest of my life.

JH: I would like to take this moment to say to the members, I love you.

Q: Who is army to you?

SJ: Army is someone who we want to share the good news with first, and hide the sad news. We want to share the positive things, the good things. Dynamite was a song we worked on, tht began w/ our desire to enjoy together with our fans,

SJ: and amidst this enjoyment we were able to reach this goal. it is bc of Army that we exist, and we want to continue giving this happiness and joy to Army.

Q: where do you gain your consolation and healing and happiness?

SG: I have developed a lot of new hobbies. I have started to draw a little bit... I have tried to play the guitar. All the other members, w/ things being so tough, thought a lot about what we can do. And we started to work on our new album that is coming later this year.

SG: Some of us have started working out... Namjoon has started to work on his arms (NJ said he has been trying to do what he can do)

Q: What will 2020 be remembered as being by BTS?

RM: The start of 2020 was pretty good, we had our cb, we were scheduled to go on our tour. Everyone has plans. Before spring we had the covid-19 outbreak, we weren't sure what to do, we became angry.

RM: it's not a matter of how 2020 will be remembered but how we want it to be remembered. For me, I want the outbreak to settle down... I hope we can look back and say we tried our best, we couldn't go on tour and meet our fans, but we had these achievements,

RM: I would like to remember 2020 as when we did all these things, we tried our best, and to remember this year as that kind of year, we are working hard, trying to do what we can do in the positions we are in.

Q: What is your next concrete dream, your direction for your future? Your plans, your dreams?

JM: More specific... I don't think I can give you a clear-cut answer. I think we will try our best to do whatever is in our reach. There are things we want to do and things we can do. In the future we will try to do the performances we can.

JM: The situation with covid19 is dire.. in order for it to end, so many ppl are trying their best to crack down on this disease, and we need a lot of time and energy for this situation to end. And we need everyone to make a combined effort to do so.

JM: Ofc I know that we can't do anything about the hurt that has occurred, but what we can do is (make everyone feel better, bring joy). I would like to show people in other countries that there is a group called BTS.

RM: I am grateful to have this opp to tell you what we want to do with our future. I would like to add that the Grammy awards is something all performers dream of. We would like to perform there, ofc we would like to be nominated for an award.

RM: I have a very complicated mixed feelings, and ofc we have to put on more performances, but idk when that will be. We would like to put on a festival for everyone, that itself feels unrealistic, but this is our dream.

RM: there is another album we have been preparing for... And we will put on another concert (online or offline).. BTS will try our best to do what we can. We will be as BTS as we can, we will "check it up" all the time.

Q: LENIKA CRUZ'S QUESTION
You performed Dynamite for the first time, and you achieved this No. 1 hot 100. what was it like to reach this milestone (including performing at the VMAs)?

V: I saw Hoseok cry and I was so surprised, it was such a happy day, I was very surprised. We have been practicing, we have been watching these major award shows, wondering if we would ever stand on these stages. This may seem far down the road, but performing on these stages

V: performing on these stages feels like a dream come true. being able to touch all these armys, members.. it's something I want to applaud ourselves for. This is a memory that will be seared forever.
