I was too amazed by Sawamura’s poem this chapter that I completely forgot to share my thoughts on chapter 224.

⚠️spoiler ahead⚠️
the chapter started with the introduction of the starting players from both teams.

Seidou’s batting line is basically the same, although Yuuki becoming the starting player again as the 7th batter is interesting. Kataoka chose him over Asou probably to add more force for+
Seidou’s offense. but I feel like Yuuki hasn’t really done anything worthwhile during summer as opposed to Yui.

I wonder if the Seki specials he’s been practicing will bring a result in this chapter?

for Ichidai’s batting line though I don’t know much aside from the cleanup.
the announcer then said that “taking the is the one who’s entrusted with the ace number this summer, 2nd year Sawamura Eijun”

and later proceed to say that the once receiving for the 2nd year Ace is the captain and 4th batter, 3rd year Miyuki.

Sawamura fam was so excited+
seeing the “superb #1” on Sawamura’s back but Wakana though...

“he’s really Seidou’s Ace... but seeing him with more responsibility added due to that makes me worried.”

(btw, Wakana’s new hair just doesn’t suit her. did TJ forget how to draw Wakana? bcs she looks so different+
now compared to how she was in Spring... anyway Nishino >>> Wakana. plue Nishino is there too at the audience seat as part of the cheerleaders looking pretty!)

Ichidai’s coach thinking that “as expected the starting pitcher is Sawamura-boy. we have to return what we owe him+
in spring”

on the other hand Furuya is entering bullpen along with Koushuu. the audiences wondering since Seidou also has Nori will there be a pitcher substitution?

but well as Kaneda is kind warming up his body in the bench Ochiai looked at him and thought “although it’s+
harsh to say but Ichidai’s batters will be too much for him. I would like to have this match with Sawamura and Furuya until the end in this match, but if it’s only the two pitchers, the difficult part will be the timing of the relieving”

(aka substituting in the relief pitcher)
although I still think this match will only have Sawamura alone until the end.

or well it’s just my bias wanting Sawamura to have his own big match where he will shine, especially since it’s hyped Sawamura vs Amahisa showdown.

or even if he had to be subbed out, aside from+
Furuya, I’m sorry but Kaneda shouldn’t be an option as I really have no idea to what extent his skill is. Ochiai is right for not wanting him to play in this match. I’d rather have Toujou instead. I’m all for Toujou as pitcher in official matches!
so perhaps it’s going to be:

1. Sawamura until the end.
or
2. Sawamura for 2/3 of the game and Furuya for the last 1/3.

but I still hope Sawamura will still close the game (so no 1 pleaseee).
that male reporter (forgot his name) saying “it will be a pitching battle with Amahisa and Sawamura, but Sawamura had had a rough start in his 2 games, so Sankou is supposed to targeting that”

which team will obtain the head start and the initiative?
next is the scene of Sawamura deep exhaling with Nori being highlighted in the background. I already talked a little bit about my thoughts on that here: https://twitter.com/yunoeikou0120/status/1300817246411878400
and next is the worried faces from the most relevant characters in regards to Sawamura. my fav Koushuu was there too🥰 https://twitter.com/yunoeikou0120/status/1300826625345347584
and then, the scene that I loved the most, Sawamura’s speech poem: https://twitter.com/yunoeikou0120/status/1300821716000632832
with Nori’s situation Sawamura definitely felt much more responsibility to win this match.

while normally I would get worried when he became that eager, for some reasons I feel like he’s going to be fine this time.

after all he has made the resolution in the morning before the+
match, so he should be ok. I believe in him. this match will definitely a huge moment for him.

the Seidou cheering bench were quite surprised with the word “defeat” coming from Sawamura and Miyuki simply commented “oi oi didn’t you leak your true intention too much?”
some Ichidai batters looked mad by that “defeat” speech but Amahisa, on the other hand, was smiling so big like he’s so excited (bless this boy).

and the Ichidai’s coach: ‘I can’t accept that speech... did we put too much confidence within him in the spring match?
the target is+
Sawamura’s speciality, that unique fastball of his.
Go, Chimaru-boy!’
*inserts his trademark gun-shooting hand gesture from him lmao*
Miyuki thought ‘yare yare, you lit a fire within the opponent so what are you going to do? well... isn’t it impossible to say don’t get too excited?’

and then he made a number 9 sign with his hand.
Tanba thought “the batter will target the first pitch”

Chris thought “be careful of the start” (? I’m not too confident with this interpretation)

Ryou-san thought “defeating the lead off batter is important”
Miyuki, intense, then said on his mind “now come, the one pitch that will forecast today’s match—“

damn so if this pitch ends up badly, the game will turn bad for Seidou, and otherwise, if this pitch ends up successfully shutting the batter, the game will be in Seidou’s hand.
Chimaru, the Ichidai’s lead off batter, thought that Sawamura is the type who creates the rhythm with his good pitching tempo, so if he breaks his starting momentum, then Sawamura will instantly be destroyed.
and the finally the improved version of the previous splitter, the number 9 aka splitter kai. https://twitter.com/yunoeikou0120/status/1300832957670670336
at first I was wondering why Miyuki decided to let the new pitch out in the very beginning? but seeing how some of the characters putting an importance in creating a head start through the first pitch and how it’s also important to create a starting momentum for Seidou+
now I can see why no 9 should be thrown first. after all Ichidai has learned his pitching and they target his fastballs, so shutting out the first batter with a new pitch that will surprise them is the way to create a good start.

I think Sawa and Seidou will be okay this time.
that’s all my thoughts for chapter 224. although the match barely has started, but still Sawamura’s speech was worth the chapter.

so excited for the next chapter, seeing the result of the number 9!
