Since we're all big fans of context now, some more context for our dear councilors:

1) When it comes to racial disparities in wealth, income, education, and level of employment, Iowa is the second worst state in the nation (Wisconsin is #1).
2) Our public schools are...

...segregated as fuck (oops, did I use crude language?), largely because of the income and racial segregation of housing in IC.
3) An ICPD officer FABRICATED a pretext for an arrest, just so he could search a black man. This was done at the behest of a racist asst. county atty...

...who merely thought he looked suspicious. This was considered to be so egregious by a federal judge that he publicly scolded both the officer and the attorney's office.
4) A BLM leader was black-bagged off the streets by a confluence of ICPD, UIPD, and State DPS.

5) Not only were protesters run into by a car on Aug. 21, but it happened again on Friday.
6) You don't want escalation? Tell that to the undercover pigs following protesters so they can bag them too when they're no longer in a group.
7) ICCSD schools still use isolation rooms.

8) Those iso rooms exist primarily in schools where the student body are people of color.
9) You want to set up an elaborate Truth and Reconciliation Commission, when the police review board you already have can't do jack shit.
10) Why? Because when it was created, ICPD...

...refused to cooperate with it. Then, OUR CURRENT CITY ATTORNEY made sure it's powers were as limited as they possibly could be.
11) White supremacists repeatedly intimidate and harass people of color in IC, particularly those who live on the south side.

12) When there was a shooting a few doors down from me in my old neighborhood that involved a black family, ICPD held a community meeting with a bunch of white residents who discussed what to do about "those people."
13) Y'all talk about "community policing" but see to forget...
