The 3 Secret formulas of persuasion used by ancient Greeks.

Ethos, Pathos, Logos.

An intro to the art of persuasion

“But Ty, wtf does that even mean”

These are persuasive advertising techniques, invented by Aristotle over 2000 years ago

His “Modes of Persuasion”

Also known as Rhetoric Appeals or The Rhetorical Triangle
Let’s break them down a little bit

Ethos: Often called an appeal to ethics, is used to establish credibility

Pathos: Appeal to emotion, is used to create an emotional response from your audience

Logos: Appeal to logic, the use of logic, facts or data to persuade an audience
The headline of my pinned tweet is a great example of Ethos

“I’ve made $5000 since March, from Affiliate Marketing”

Me stating how much I’ve made, shows that when it comes to Affiliate Marketing

There’s a good chance I know what I’m talking about! (Credibility)

Here it is👇 https://twitter.com/tytweed/status/1287855101906829313
This Coca-Cola ad is a simple but effective use of Pathos

“open a Coke, open happiness”

Implying Coca-Cola will make you happy, who doesn’t want to be happy?!

It doesn’t matter if the Coke is actually going to make someone happy

It matters that they FEEL like it will
Here is a perfect example of Logos

Taken from a Verizon ad

They’ve used a map showing how much coverage they have compared to their competitor

They have provided facts and data right here, there’s no arguing this
These are just some examples of how words are everything

Especially when it comes to selling

Yes, even on Twitter.

Can you get people to engage?

Make them think?

Persuade them?

Make them FEEL?

You can do all of this and more with the right words!
