Last week the Governor announced California's new tiered system for reopening: purple, red, orange, and yellow.

San Francisco is currently red. We've spent the last few days developing what this means for our reopening plans.
I want to stress again that as we move forward the most important thing is protecting public health. We don't want to move forward only to have to once again take a step back.

All of these plans are subject to our city meeting key health indicators as we move forward.
As we announced, starting today the following can move forward today:

• Personal services outdoors;
• Outdoor pools, non-contact recreational activities;
• Indoor malls (limited capacity)

Under today's health order, gyms & fitness centers can open outdoors next week.
Since we are in the "red" on the state's system, we can move forward additional reopenings with limited capacity and safety measures in place.
By mid-September:

• Hotels for tourism & visitors;
• Outdoor movie theaters & outdoor family entertainment;
• Outdoor tour buses & boats;
• Indoor museums, zoos, aquariums w/ safety plans;
• Places of worship for individual prayer;
• Outdoor places of worship up to 50 ppl.
By end of September:

• Indoor personal services, like hair salons, nail salons, barbers, & massages;
• Places of worship;
• One-on-one personal training sessions or solo personal training;
• Tattoos & piercings.

All must be done safely with masks and capacity limits.
We're focused on getting our kids back in learning environments.

Starting mid-September, community learning hubs and K-6 schools with safety waivers can operate.

We're working towards trying to reopen middle schools (through 8th grade) and non-waiver K-6 schools by mid-October.
High School students transmit similar to adults, so we are being more cautious as we approach their reopening.

All of this however, is dependent on us continuing to make progress in slowing the spread. That means all of our choices and actions impact our ability to reopen.
Keep your distance from others, wash your hands, wear a mask, and avoid gatherings. I say it all the time but it is the only way we can get back to some sense of normalcy.

San Francisco has led the way in protecting public health and fighting COVID-19. Let's keep it up.
