Apparently, just thinking loud, can NIGERIA set up 1000 Internet hotspots in each 774 local government in the country for Students at all levels? Maybe as a campaigner of positivity, I should hold a strong belief it's a good idea and can happen. 774000 hotspots đŸ˜Č, A big Deal? https://twitter.com/FMoCDENigeria/status/1300751483332366336
With the reform going on with NIN and NIMC and the hope of greater digital revolution from @FMoCDENigeria taking offer @nimc_ng, the NIN can be the access code for all Nigerian Students at all levels to access the 774000 public WiFi hotspots across the Nation. @NigEducation
In brief definition, public hotspots are internet access points that allow you to connect to WiFi network using mobile devices, computer or internet driven devices. Many cities set up hotspots to help people stay connected to strong and fast internet connections. #DigitalNigeria
The National Identification Number can be used as access code by Students ( basic, secondary and Higher institutions) to access the 774000 hotspots. How can this work? All registered schools should have a platform created by @nimc_ng just like @officialnyscng did for CPI.
CPI means corps producing institutions. Each CPI has a online portal to upload their candidate for mobilization, as such , each registered schools (basic to higher institutions) can also upload their students details on @nimc platform which would then be connected to their NIN.
These 77400 hotspots @DrIsaPantami, would have a stronger, faster and free internet access for Students captured by NIN. It means all students would register for NIN. In the long run as students graduate from a level to another, their academic details get updated on NIN portal.
This would mean a lot of funding I guess. How do government fund this initiative. Do I strongly believe in @NigeriaGov @FMoCDENigeria to drive this concept. I should be positive, we should be optimistic. Funding is key @toluogunlesi @ogundamisi
@BashirAhmaad #DigitalNigeria
A layman opinion, sources of fund can be 1) TETFUND, 2) 1 to 2 naira on every litre of gasoline, 3) certain % of taxes collected by local and state governments 4) 2% of national budget 5) 1% of state budget etc.
No #DigitalTransformation without internet investment in young ppl
To conclude, what are areas to set up these public WiFi hotspots @DrIsaPantami @FMoCDENigeria, probably all schools @NigEducation settings in each LGA; sports arenas in school campuses and off campuses such as stadiums; public libraries, train, long buses, parks and hospitals etc
This @NigeriaGov is open to ideas, iniatives, concepts I strongly believe, this thread is about #DigitalNigeria , #digitaleducation #DigitalTransformation. @DrIsaPantami @SundayDareSD having hotspots at stadiums can be the idea of attracting Nigeriayouths patronage for live games
