I think one of my favourite things about playing #TTRPG and #DnD as a writer is how much it gets you used to the idea of collaborative storytelling. Writing with others is an absolute joy. I think as a society we have some pretty bonkers perceptions of authors as solitary (1/?)
beings, but that can't really be further from the truth. It takes a LOT of people to bring a book into being - the writer does the Lion's share, but books are edited, proofread, sensitivity read, promoted, and morphed by other people. Very few writers take on that task (2/?)
solo. Similarly, table-top games give us a really powerful means of developing that instinct with others. A group of creative people will create a stronger, more complex story than one person, nine times out of ten (provided they're all jelling with each other). Stories (3/?)
are inherently social. (4/4)
