Back in 2019, when in-person conferences were a thing, @StanfordPSY supported my attending the Wyoming Energy Summit in Gillette, Wyo. Why would a psychiatry resident attend an Energy Summit in the “energy capital of the nation”?

Because, in Wyoming, revenue from mineral extraction finances a great deal of Wyoming’s social services, including mental health care.

Those paying for services and those delivering services ought to meet face-to-face. Otherwise, it’s difficult to appreciate how care operates and is sustained, and care becomes less likely to reach those who need it.

At @StanfordPSY, I’m encouraged to chat with folks who don’t traditionally meet with psychiatrists and to go where psychiatrists don’t typically tread. Glad to be here. @ebeag
